How Will I Know?
 When to have sexual intercourse for the first time is a big decision to make. There are a lot of things to consider, like the effect it may have on your life, how you are going to feel about it later, and how your friends or family might react.
Sometimes it seems like everyone's having sex. But lots of people aren't. Some people have sex to feel like they're part of the crowd, or to feel more mature. Some people have sex because of pressure from someone else. But any sexual experience should only happen if you want it, and you feel OK about it. Don't pressure yourself either, take your time, think about whether you really feel ready, and whether this is the right person.
Many people have said they wished they had waited till they were older. People also say it's better with someone you know well than with someone you don't really know. Getting to know each other better often makes it easier to talk about safer sex and make decisions about protecting yourselves before you have sexual intercourse.
