Contraceptive Workshop for Midwives (Full Day Workshop)

Objective

This is a full day workshop aimed at assisting nurses and midwives working in the area of contraception and sexual health increase their knowledge of contraceptive options available to post-natal women.

  • Progestogen-only pill
  • Combined oral contraceptive pill
  • Depo provera
  • Emergency contraception
  • Discuss contraindications, efficacy and side effects and what to use when
  • Pill teach safely
  • Post natal sexuality (optional)

Contraceptive Update for Midwives (3 Hours)

Objective

To update midwives on postpartum contraception

Content

  • Progestogen-only pill
  • Combined oral contraceptive pill
  • Depo provera
  • Emergency contraception
  • IUD/IUS
  • Barrier methods
  • LAM (Lactational Amenorrhea Method)

    FPA has received MOH funding to provide free courses on Contraception and Sexual Health to: 

    Registered Nurses, Independant Midwives, Public Health Nurses and Medical Practitioners, who are employed in Primary Health and / or GP Practice. 

    Participants must hold either a New Zealand Nursing, Midwifery or Medical Registration, and a current practicing certificate. 

    Places are strictly limited, so early registration is advisable.

    There are a limited number of fee-paying places available to Nurses and Midwives.

    Cost of courses are available on request.

  • Approved by the Midwifery Council of New Zealand and allocated 3 points
