ONLY WAY TO SCORE

Family Planning has used the considerable interest in the Lions Rugby tour of New Zealand to air the safer sex message.
Publicity surrounding the touring Barmy Army prompted opportunities to discuss safer sex, should it become part of the after match activities.
Family Planning Association Executive Director Dr Gill Greer’s message was win or lose, play safe if sex is part of the celebrations and feel confident in negotiating condom use.
“With alcohol frequently involved for some - we wanted to ensure that the best possible decisions were made under those circumstances."
"We know that condoms used correctly can prevent the spread of most STIs and protect against unplanned pregnancies and if people do choose to have sex, they must keep themselves safe."
Both New Zealand and the United Kingdom have high rates of STIs like Chlamydia and Dr Greer said correct condom use was one effective way of preventing the spread of these infections.
"Another would be the choice not to have sex," Dr Greer said.
To get the message across Family Planning coined the tagline “Only Way to Score” where the “o” appear as condoms.
Posters with this message, encouraging condom use, were put up in many bar and hotel toilets around New Zealand during the tour and condoms donated by Ansell were given away.
“Only Way to Score” will also feature among the sideline advertising at some of the NPC rugby matches over the next few months.
